AMMUSTED 2024 Graduation: Discontent Among Graduates Over Robes and Medals
What was meant to be a day of celebration and achievement for graduates of the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AMMUSTED) has been overshadowed by frustration and disappointment.
Reports indicate that the university does not have enough graduation robes for the students opting to hire robes from other institutions (KNUST). This decision has sparked outrage among graduates, who see the move as a disgrace to the university’s reputation and a failure to honor the significance of their achievement.
One graduate, who preferred to remain anonymous, expressed their dismay:
“We worked hard to get here, and this is the level of recognition we receive? Wearing robes from other schools makes it feel like our university doesn’t value us or its own brand.”
Adding to the controversy, many graduates are also raising concerns about the medals being prepared for the event. According to students, the medals are of poor quality, which they feel does not reflect the prestige of their hard-earned degrees.
Another graduate voiced their disappointment, saying:
“The medals are supposed to symbolize our success, but they look cheap and poorly made. It feels like the school is cutting corners at our expense.”
The situation has led to growing calls for accountability from the university administration. Some graduates are questioning how funds allocated for the graduation ceremony were utilized, while others have taken to social media to express their dissatisfaction.
Despite these issues, the university has yet to release an official statement addressing the concerns raised by the students. As the graduation date approaches, many are hoping for a resolution that will restore the dignity of this significant milestone.
Graduation is a momentous occasion, and for these graduates, the expectation is clear: their accomplishments deserve to be celebrated with the respect and honor they have worked so hard to earn.
